Top 5 Tips For Selecting a Wedding Venue

Congratulations on your engagement! Now that you have said ‘yes!’ to your best friend, it’s time to start planning your special day! Although there are so many different wedding venue options to choose from, you want to be sure you select the right wedding venue. These are the top tips for selecting a wedding venue.

top 5 tips for selecting a wedding venue

Select a Wedding Venue that Feels like Home

Our first tip to selecting a wedding venue is to select a venue that feels like home.  Your venue is the space that will host your wedding day. When you look back on your wedding day and cherish the memories you want it to be held in a place that reminds you of yourself!

From libraries and museums to airplane hangers and vineyards the options for wedding venues is endless. Because of the number of options,  couples should choose a venue that closely matches their hobbies and interests. Each couple has personal preferences for how they like to celebrate. A couple who wants a big party with dancing, a DJ, and all the traditional reception celebration will most likely book a different venue than the couple who are looking for a romantic low-key dinner party. Be sure to find a venue that fits you and your personal preferences.

Start looking in advance

To ensure you book your dream wedding venue, start searching for your wedding venue far out in advance. Did you know Wedding venues are the first vendors couples book? This means venues can be booked as far as a year or even two in advance! If you are even slightly interested in a venue, contact them! Learn more about their availability, pricing, and any additional information you may need to book your date.

Also,  consider asking about weekday options. Many venues offer special pricing for Thursday weddings. Although this isn’t a traditional day to wed, it could save you money and increase your budget for the other vendors and decor you want! Weekend days also give your guests the option to stay in town for a long weekend!

Consider the location

Another tip for selecting a wedding venue is to consider the location. It’s more important than you think! Consider how close or far away you want to be wed. Wedding venues located near you are convenient, however, if you can’t seem to find the right venue in your town, consider traveling! Destination weddings have become more popular among couples in recent years. Destination weddings used to mean traveling to another country. Today, destination weddings are only a few zip codes away! Be open to traveling to a neighboring city or even state to plan for an adventurous wedding!

Consider your guest count

Every venue allows a different guest count. Some venues are equipped for 400 guests while other venues only have space for 75. When selecting your wedding venue, be sure to know many people you want at your wedding. If you haven’t created an exact guest list, that’s okay! Just be sure to have a general idea of how many people you want to invite. A rough idea will help you narrow down your venue options.

Chat with your wedding planner

Our final and most important tip is to chat with your wedding planner! Do not forget they are professionals and you hired them to help plan and execute your dream day! Your planner will have venue recommendations and can book site visits on your behalf. Your wedding planner has your best interest at heart and they will be sure to find the perfect venue if you are struggling to find it yourself.
